Allstate Claims in Texas

Allstate Homeowners and Flood Insurance Claims in Texas

Allstate claim denials can be devastating, particularly following a natural disaster like Hurricane Ida that ripped through Louisiana on August 29, 2021. Hurricanes can leave trauma in their wake for those whose homes were damaged or destroyed, leaving them displaced. It can feel like the last straw, after going through a hurricane, to have your insurance company delay or deny your claim—or offer you only a fraction of what it’s worth. Unfortunately, Allstate claim denials are not all that uncommon. While most insurance companies promote the idea that they are your friend, ready to help you after a disaster, when push comes to shove, they are most concerned about their financial bottom line.

Allstate, like many insurance companies, is a master at undervaluing a claim, delaying payment, or denying coverage altogether. If there is not a legitimate reason for any of these actions, then the company is acting in bad faith. When an insurance company acts in bad faith, you need a heavy hitter on your side in the form of an experienced attorney from Gulf Coast Insurance Attorneys. We simply will not allow an insurance company to take advantage of you during this difficult time. We will look at your situation from every angle as we determine the best way to proceed. Insurance companies are less likely to act in bad faith when you have a knowledgeable attorney on your side. Don’t try to handle this situation on your own. Let us take over the legal side while you put your life back together following a devastating hurricane.

About Allstate Insurance

Allstate was founded in 1931, when the president of Sears, Roebuck & Co., General Robert E. Wood, began selling auto insurance by mail. Allstate has been a pioneer of the insurance industry since that time, serving more than 16 million customers nationwide. Based in Northbrook, Illinois, Allstate is the nation’s largest publicly held insurer. You might be surprised to find that your insurance company is Allstate, just with a different name (like Esurance, Encompass, Castle Key, American Heritage, and many more).

Having a Homeowner or Flood Claim Denied by Allstate

If your insurance claim has been denied following Hurricane Ida, we understand that your first instinct may not be to remain calm and address the situation rationally. That is, however, what you need to do. First of all, review your homeowner’s policy in detail to ensure you fully understand your coverage. Determine whether the damage to your home should be covered, and, if so, make sure you have sufficient documentation of the damage. Many times, insurance companies will either claim you did not sufficiently document the damage to your home or that you failed to take steps to prevent further damage (i.e, following the hurricane that tore off a corner of your roof, you did not take steps to have the missing piece replaced, incurring more water damage from the rain). Make sure you fully understand the denial letter—if it seems ambiguous, ask for clarification. At this point, you may need to have your attorney file an appeal on your behalf or take further legal action to ensure you receive a fair settlement for your claim.

National Flood Insurance Program and Allstate Insurance

You may have purchased a government-run National Flood Insurance Program through your Allstate agent. When you purchase an NFIP flood policy through Allstate you are helping to protect yourself against the financial devastation flooding can bring. Flood insurance can help make the recovery process quicker, easier, and less costly—unless Allstate offers you less than your claim is worth or denies your claim altogether. If you find yourself in this position, contact a knowledgeable bad-faith insurance attorney from Gulf Coast Insurance Attorneys.

Allstate’s History in Louisiana with Hurricane Damage

Allstate has a less than stellar reputation for some of its bad faith practices, with claims the company consistently puts profits over policyholders. The Louisiana Department of Insurance put out a list in 2021 of the insurance companies with the highest number of consumer complaints. Allstate was number four on that list. The complaints against Allstate include that the company combines “lowball offers and hardball litigation” to boost its bottom line. According to the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, complaints filed against Allstate are greater in number than those filed against almost all of their major competitors. Following Hurricane Katrina, Allstate was one of several insurance companies that improperly denied claims by those who lost everything. Allstate has also been held liable for its bad-faith insurance practices in other states across the United States. If you are fighting a bad-faith response to your Allstate claim, contact Gulf Coast Insurance Attorneys today.
